Q: i purchased picture keeper pk8 because it holds 8000 pictures,i only downloaded 3000 and its saying it i full i am not happy with this,

Same as Nikita, it says it will hold up to 8000 photos DEPENDING on the photo size!! When you take a photo say on a camera, there are differents size settings you can choose whether it be 3mp, 5mp, 8mp etc. the higher the number the bigger and it therefore takes up a lot more space/memory. You can resize your photos, that will help and allow you to hold more photos. Mine held almost 6000 photos so my camera is likely on a lower setting than yours. Check your camera and make sure for the future it's on a lower setting. The good thing about picture keepers is that when you fill one up, the next one picks up where it left off automatically. Unlike USB's you have to load the files manually then when it gets full you have to check where it left off and then continue to manually add files each time. That's the upside of picture keeper, everything is done automatically. Hope this helps!

Whatever format they are saved in. It's simple.

Q: All of my photos are on an independent hard drive . How would I use this product with a hard drive ,as I cannot direct the hard drive to do anything

I have a desktop computer and an external hard drive. If that's your set up, plug the PK into the computer's USB port, and turn on the external hard drive. The PK will be listed with a unique name under devices and drives (such as E drive). Then copy from the external hard drive (which might be called F drive) to E drive. Hope that's pertinent to your question.

Q: Will it retrieve old photos I have scanned to my computure?

Yes, it searches for any photo or graphic in jpeg, or any other photo format. I had about 700 photos I scanned years at ago, and it copied all of them.

Disappointing

This product was not as good as I thought it would be. I didn't find it particularly easy to use . More bother than the ordinary memory sticks I had been using before. I think I am being generous with three stars.I wont be getting anymore.
