Q: What is size the mess and is it grey in colour?

There is a choice of either a dark brown frame which includes BLACK mesh,....or a white frame which includes WHITE mesh. It is not grey. The size of the frame depends on which measurements you order, however, if you order a large size, it can easily be cut down.

Q: Do I have to use a drill? Thanks

Contrary to the other short answer of 'No', I'd answer: "Possibly, yes". But it really depends on how you decide to attach the frames to the windows or window frames. Building the frames requires no drill, but may require a hacksaw to cut the aluminium sides to the required size. There are different fixing options, some of which require drilling holes for screws/raw plugs - so the type of drill will depend on the material of your frame or window surround - maybe into plaster board or wood.

Q: Looking at purchasing for door to keep cat in and air the room. How strong is the mesh

The mesh is strong enough to keep the cat inside unless as mine, learns how to open them. Had to purchase small latch. Otherwise very happy with the purchase.

Q: it says aluminium frame but would it work with UPVC windows?

Yes I have upvc Windows . I didn't use the recommended hooks I used magnetic strips which works brilliantly and means you don't need to be to particular in cutting to size also makes it easy to remove to clean . These are the best screens I have ever bought well worth the money no more pesky insects just fresh air.
