I needed it to repair a battery cable on a vehicle that the cable was no longer available. I purchased this kit to repair it. I was skeptical that it would be any good based on the price. The crimpers worked excellent, and we are much heavier duty than I expected. But the real surprise was the cable cutters. It was approximately an extra $10 for them over the price of just the crimpers so I wasn’t expecting much. They cut through a 4 gauge cable as good as a $30+ set of cutters.

As I mentioned in the headline, the appearance of the crimp isn't the prettiest, but after clamping the freshly crimped terminal in a vise and pulling fairly hard on a piece of 8 gauge wire, I feel the strength of the crimp is decent. Since this isn't a $200 Snap-On crimper, I think it does a decent job for the money. The included wire cutters do an excellent job and provide a nice clean cut on heavier gauge wire. I'm also happy with the terminals that were included in the package, and they do appear to be tinned copper which gives them an "aluminum" color.The first one I received came in the original product box that had no Amazon tape on it, let alone any other tape except for some that the Post Office had applied in an effort to re-secure the box that looked like the Samsonite Luggage gorilla had gotten hold of it. When I received the package, there were no terminals, and a spring and clip on from the crimp tool had come off and was lost since the box was partially open. Amazon said send the product back and they would send me a new one. When the second box arrived, it was in slightly better condition and this time someone at Amazon decided to use at least some tape which prevented loss of any parts. However, since the box had been through the ringer, the plastic coating on the crimper had "chunks" missing out of it. This was only cosmetic but I prefer to apply my own bumps and bruises to things I buy. How many times have you purchased a small widget from Amazon and they ship it in a huge box, yet with this item they fail to do even a minimal amount of taping, let alone packaging - go figure.I try to keep shipping & packaging concerns out of a review because they usually have little to do with the product, and Amazon usually takes care of shipping problems when they occur. Since it seems that Amazon chooses to ship this particular product in a crappy box with little tape, I suspect there's a good chance you too might have to deal with some shipping issues. Just something to consider when ordering one of these.

Settings on crimper are not in wire gauges. But in MM which requires you to carry around a chart when your working with different size cable or wire. Terminal lugs suppled with crimper are not copper. But, are steel or aluminum

Works for multiple sizes of heavy wire.

Works great, built battery cables!

Very handy tool, a must for anybody who is not soldering. Clam is strong enough to give you confidence pieces will not come lose. The only thing I would like to share an a general observation is that the clamp is HUGE!, so it's a bit hard to work in small spaces with it.
