Conair The Cordless Collection ~ 3/4-inch Flat Iron

I used to use a butane curling iron back in the late 80's. It was AWESOME. When I went camping... I always had my signature 80's mall hair no matter where we were. When I had sleepover parties with tons of teen girls.... I didn't fight for the outlet! I was looking for something like this again as I am doing a lot of camping and a lot of traveling where the power situation is not known. So I was so happy to find a butane flat iron.I have not gone through one of the cells yet so I can't tell you how long these last only that I did mark the canister's fuel level when I started and I haven't made much of a dent in it after a few days of using it. My estimation is 30 days - your use may vary on how much you use it. I use this for the crown area of my hair not the whole head. Takes maybe 10 minutes or less a day for me.What did get me thinking is the heat that butane generates .... there is no high or low... it's steady heat... and I wondered what I was subjecting my hair to. I normally use a flat iron or curling iron on its lower settings.... 190 C/350 F. I have fine hair and it scorches easily. So I measured it. After two minutes we were at 150 C/ 300 F. Now it does creep higher after that but it's really slow. If you need an iron that gets in the 400 degree F range to even make a dent in your hair - this will not work for you. For me, this works fine... It does take longer to get the same results at 350 F that I'm trying to achieve with 300 F - but I can get the same results.Use... you have to remember to turn off the flow of butane when done or you will waste a canister. When you turn it on, first start the flow of gas by pressing the button, then click the igniter. You will know it's going because you will be able to see a small blue/orange flame through the holes on the one side.Also... you cannot pack this in a carry on. If you are flying this must be in checked luggage I'm afraid.

Bought this for a trip and it just arrived but I wished now that I never even bought it!! 1-Doesn't hold the hair at all, even if you want to hold down the clamp part it doesn't work. This makes it not functional as a hair straightener. 2-Heats up-but barely, don't be fooled by the 419 degree on the box. 3-Since it's got the butane cartridge it can't be returned! Meaning I only had it for 15 minutes and am stuck with a useless tool!!! It would be better to invest in a regular flat iron.

No more 'camp hair' while tent camping...lol.

I read the reviews and figure I'd have a 50/50 shot of this working. I bought this and have tried at least 5 times on separate occasions to get this to heat up and work since it's cordless. One day, I was even working from home and had it on for 4+ hours and it still never heated up.... The best part of this experience is how amazon was very accommodating and offered me a refund for this defective product. Overall, I purchased this recently end of April/early May 2023 and it has not worked at all each time I try to use it and patiently wait for it to heat up. I would suggest to avoid this product and try to find a different cordless/ wireless option.

I figured I should start from the beginning. It's pretty annoying to turn on. I guess that's for safety reasons as its butane. But for that reason it doesn't easily turn on either. First your supposed to push the on button and then start which is basically like turning on a lighter. However, if you've ever used a pesky lighter this is exactly like it. You can see where it ignites so if you don't see that the little fire is lit then its not properly turned on. What i do is turn it on and wait for the butane to collect a little bit and then ignite it and once I see the fire go on then it begins to immediately heat up. Now it does get very hot. Not as hot as my CHI but its good. It stinks that it does not heat up on both sides. So the "lighter" side is supposed to heat up the other side. It's ok. Only good to use as a touch up iron. I will be using it for my adventure wedding at the bottom of the grand canyon but I tested it our first. My favorite aspect about this is how lightweight it is.

So I like that this is portable and I can take it to work with me on super humid days. It’s really convenient, however, I have THICK hair. So with a regular straightener with temperature control, I have to heat it up to 400+ so it really bugs me that it doesn’t get hot enough. It’s taking three times as long to straighten my hair with this. If I’ve got the time to kill, great, it keeps me busy. But I don’t always have two hours to do my hair, and honestly who wants to spend that much time on hair?I tried to ask a question of does anyone know how to heat it up more? But I wasn’t able to, so I reviewed instead. This would be 100% more awesome if it was able to heat up more. It just doesn’t work on my hair.

I was actually very shocked at how well this worked! I bought it for a friend of mine when her power was out. The removable lithium battery is very easy to get in and out. The iron gets nice and hot and works very well. And it even comes with a heat proof case. This is perfect for someone on the go or a glamping aficionados!

Please do not buy this flat Iron It doesn't heat up it only warms up slightly, so it won't do anything to your hair. It's pretty much useless, very disappointing. And when I went to return this is the message I received on Amazon. For safety reasons, items that are classified as hazardous materials or use flammable liquids or gases cannot be returned to Amazon.com. Customers should dispose of hazardous materials according to Local, State and Federal regulations. Customers should contact their local government or local waste company for directions on how to dispose of Household Hazardous Waste.In other words you cannot get your money back or exchange for a different product I know it was only $20 and almost anyone can afford to lose $20 just as I can. But it is very upsetting when they don't tell you that it cannot be return due to the material matter. Plus now it's going to be a very difficult to even dispose of it as well. So please again do not order this flat iron. Save your $20 or better yet buy another product.

bought for Cuba trip and it worked exceptional.but don't forget the cartridge is screw in and not push in so read the instructions.

Very disappointed, it heats up ok but there is not enough tension to hold the hair in place to work and I am unable to return it because it works with gas..... lesson learned.

I would have returned it but the packaging got thrown away. Way overpriced and doesn’t straighten my hair. So disappointed
