A good traditional licorice flavor
A good traditional licorice flavor, however I did expect it to be stronger. Slightly medicinal tasting with a smooth and pleasant finish, this alone makes it worth chewing. If you love licorice you will enjoy this.

Old School.
I probably havent eaten this liquorice since I was at school in the 80s and after coming across it by pure chance decided to order a few sticks.Tastes just as good as I remember and is just as hard, if only Id also remembered you need a decent set of teeth too.Oh well, they will last even longer as I slowly gum them.Very nice, great price.

Really nice apart from the initial taste
These Basetti are very nice tasting once you get past the initial aniseed oil coating. The sticks arrive in a clear bag and are obviously not made by Barrett but unless you're a snob that shouldn't sway you until you've tried them.My initial thought was, they feel a bit oily and my initial taste confirmed my suspicion.Looking at the packaging I could see that one of the ingredients used is aniseed oil, now I'm not sure if it's used in the makeup of the sticks which has since worked its way to the surface or as a coating used to prevent the licorice from sticking together in the pack but it was definitely the bad taste I was experiencing, once that had gone the licorice tasted lovely. My advice is when you receive them, take the sticks out and give them all a good rub down with a clean black cloth to remove most of the oily deposit then repackage them in a paper bag which will absorb any further oils over time.Regarding texture, they seem a little softer than sticks I've had in the past but depending on how long you keep Bassetti sticks for the hardness will change over time anyway so not an issue.Overall, if you are looking for your Basetti fix and don't mind a little preparation work before eating them then these are a good option.
