The best popper
First, my credentials. Born and raised in a rural area where popcorn is farmed. I’ve been eating and making popcorn for more than six decades. This corn popper is the best I’ve ever used, bar none. Nothing else is close.1. Even heat distribution2. Quality build with steel…not aluminum…and strong, solid rivets. 3. No gears, the crank mechanism uses a strong steel cable that won’t become a cleaning headache. 4. Top notch customer service. 5. If used properly you’ll never have burnt kernels and stuck on grannies Hint for those who pop gourmet varieties with small kernels (I prefer Ruby Red) you can pop about 2/3 cup in one batch.

The best popcorn popper ever!!!
I have had a Whirley popper for over 20 years. It has started to fall apart. The plastic gears come apart and I can’t stir the popcorn once it gets above an inch or so popped. I was in the market for another type of stovetop storing popper. Nothing beats stovetop popcorn. Microwave can’t come close. The Time for Treats popcorn popper is an amazing product. My old popper was lightweight aluminum. It worked great but had a major design flaw with the plastic gears. The Time for Treats popcorn popper solves this problem with the solid cable that connects to the stirring mechanism. It is also very heavy duty stainless steel with a thick base. The top is secured with a clasp and only half the top opens. My old popper would open up both sides and I would get popcorn all over. The magnetic clasp to hold the popper open works great, you still have to hold it in place with your thumb but the little handle makes it easy to hold it open without getting popcorn all over the counter. There is an insulated handle opposite the stir handle to help empty the popped corn The stirring mechanism and the cable have to be installed. The directions on this are not that clear. I installed it the first time thinking it is best to have it stretched out to the longest point of the cable. I tightened the mechanism to the cable and popped a batch of popcorn. The stirring mechanism was binding and the set screw came loose and I had to to just shake the popper in order to get the corn popped. I popped a great batch of popcorn but something wasn’t right. After the unit cooled, I took it apart and tried a second time to install the stir mechanism. I held the stir mechanism all the way into the handle that is used to hold the popper. I set the stir mechanism on the cable. I let it settle lol the way to the bottom on the stir mechanism. I then tightened the set screw. The best part of this total assembly is the weight that goes on the shaft of the popper that slides down and hold the stir mechanism to its lowest point without and any binding. They need to update the install instructions to include the best way to install. This popper is amazing! I use under a half cup of Orville Redenbacher popcorn because a half cup pops so much it is hard to get it out of the 6 quart popper! I use 3 tablespoons of Orville oil. The stirring mechanism keeps the popcorn stirred up until the last 1/2 inch when I have to then just move the popper on the fire. Once it starts to pop I lower the gas and then near the end I shut off the fire and then just use the heat from the popper’s very thick bottom. It is not the thin bottom of my old popper but a thick bottom like in gourmet cook wear. The popcorn popper is filled to the brim and there are hardly any old maids. No burning at all.Great tasting popcorn!I highly recommend the Time for Treats popcorn popper to any one that loves delicious stovetop popcorn.

Best popper ever.
Best popper ever. Solid. Not flimsy. No plastic gears. We’ve had a dozen others. My favorite.

it burns no matter how careful you are
My family makes popcorn almost every day. We may skip a day here or there, but we really pop almost every single day, which is why I was willing to spend this much money on a stove popper. I thought it would be easier to clean. While the process of popping is easy for sure, even when popped on lower temperature and the handle turned the entire time to prevent sticking, it burns. I have spent HOURS scrubbing it since we got it, and we popped popcorn in it not more than half a dozen times in a month since we got it. I can't return it since we've used it, and I threw the box away immediately. This is by far the most disappointing purchase I've ever made.

Substantial Real Stainless Steel. NO Aluminum
I had the aluminum popper from another brand for years, and it was great, except I’m trying to get away from using aluminum. I tried that brand’s “stainless steel” popper, but only the disc on the bottom was stainless steel. The pot was still aluminum. So I ordered this StovePop popper which is, as it advertises, all stainless steel. It comes with the cable drive unassembled, so there is ‘some’ assembly required. It would be quite easy were the cable pre-measured to exactly the right length for the pot. Mine was a tad too long and it was scratching the bottom of my pot. We cut off 1/8’ and tried again. Still too long. We nipped off just a little more, and it was still on the bottom of the pot but not dragging like before. If you are trying to do this assembly alone or you have hand-strength issues (like I do), this will not be an easy task. My husband had to do it.The popper itself is quite hefty. The handle is comfortable and it is easy to turn the spinner. The opposite handle makes it easy to pour the popcorn, and the grippy cover keeps it from burning you since it doesn’t get hot. It’s easy to install the lid.I just made my first batch of popcorn in this popper. It did a beautiful job of popping the corn. Every kernel popped. No old maids. When the pot cooled after we enjoyed our popcorn, I washed up. I use a free & clear type dish soap which didn’t cut the grease. I’ll need to get out the blue degreasing dish soap that I keep on hand for laundry stains for this one. When I was ready to install the lid on the pot and put it away, the spinner and magnet fell off the cable. I could not manage to put it back by myself. Again, my husband had to help with it.PROS: Substantial all stainless steel construction, comfortable handles that keep you from burning yourself, no gears to break, easy clean-up.CONS: The cable driver needs to be adjusted to the proper length before they send this out of the factory. The magnet for holding the lid open for pouring doesn’t really hold very well, and it still falls closed. I have to hold the lid open, but the lever makes it easy enough. I just use the magnet to store the tiny Allen wrench included for installing the spinner since I’m probably going to need it each time I make popcorn. All in all, I am very happy with this popcorn popper. It has a lifetime guarantee, so I expect if it comes down to it, I could contact the company for a replacement cable if mine continues to give me problems.I would recommend this popper. I feel so much better knowing I have a healthier option than aluminum.
