Needed a solution for feeders after getting a new deck. This was perfect, just screws on, is sturdy and works well.

I love hummingbirds and wanted to put feeders at my new home. My husband was worried about the mess and I didn’t want to drill holes into anything. This hook was the perfect solution. We have used them for a couple of months now and they are perfect. I originally ordered one but got another one when I saw how well the first one worked.The angle of the ‘arm’ hangs them off the side and is sturdy enough to hang the feeders without having to drill holes. I can change the position to give me the best view with the swivel so I can watch my hummingbirds and not have them mess all over the porch!

This was just what we needed! It came assembled and was very easy to install. We hung a wooden birdfeeder full of seed on it and it seems very sturdy. It hangs just over the ledge which helps keep the messy seeds off the porch and it hangs at just the right height for us to enjoy watching the birds.

The 37" steel rod will support heavy weights and can be freely rotated and removed from the railing clamp.The railing clamp attaches well and seems strong and durable. Worth the extra cost.

Bought this to hang a bird feeder from, so that I wouldn't also be feeding the neighborhood squirrels.The good: Arrived carefully packaged and earlier than promised. 5 stars for packaging and delivery. The hook arm is VERY stout and completely adequate for intended purpose. Finish and durability look good.The caveats: The tightening knobs could be a little larger to make tightening easier, but vice grips or pliers will help if that's a problem for you. As other reviewers have noted, I wouldn't trust this to hang something that weighs more than a few pounds. This is mostly due to the leverage that the 3-ft arm can exert on the comparatively small base clamp, combined with the somewhat undersized foot of the base clamp screw. You'll definitely want to use some shim material above and below the railing, as I did, to distribute the load and protect your railing from being gouged if it's made out of cedar or some other soft product. In fairness, it would be very difficult to design a sufficiently robust clamp that would fit the many different railing configurations out there. The solution would be to modify or provide a base that it could be securely screwed to a railing upright. Also, don't count on this hanger to defeat squirrels. Not a product defect, but they can jump up to 6 feet, so 3 feet from a deck railing is nothing. Use a bird feeder they can't hang from and you should be ok. Ask me how I know this :)Bottom line: I really wanted to like this product. Decent product. Just be aware of its limitations.

This deck hanger turned out to be very helpful in finding a way to hang my hummingbird feeder. having the ability to move the angle of the hanger was most helpful! It's very sturdy.
